AmCham Board Priorities: Juraj Sedivy, Cetin and digital security
When we think of war we think of planes and tanks.
War is fought just as fiercely, and perhaps more important, in the area of information. The digitization of information has made information a much more effective tool, and made it even more vital to protect the digital infrastructure through which our economy and societies flow.
Russia, and other adversaries, will probe our digital systems searching for ways to disrupt our societies, and, when they do, they will argue through their social media proxies that our vulnerability to attack proves democracy does not work.
That is why the digital capability of the government is crucial to showing that democracies can deliver better government more efficiently, and why safeguarding that infrastructure against cyberattacks is the frontline of national security.
Juraj Sedivy of CETIN agreed to join our board to lead AmCham’s efforts to gather the commercial technology and expertise necessary to provide that defense, and potentially unique Czech capabilities that can be sold to our partners in Europe and Nato.
“Digital infrastructure powers vital state functions,” Juraj says. “We need a clear strategy to develop and defend it.
