Global player Eversheds Sutherland strengthens its position in the Czech Republic through integration with Kropáček LEGAL
On August 1, 2025, the Prague branch of the international law firm Eversheds Sutherland merged with the law firm Kropáček LEGAL, significantly strengthening its position in the areas of real estate law, litigation, and corporate affairs. The merger has expanded Eversheds Sutherland's team by 13 people, including 10 lawyers.
Stanislav Dvořák, founder and partner of the firm, said: "From the beginning, we wanted to build a firm based on strong personalities with expertise and drive. The arrival of the Kropáček LEGAL team fits perfectly into this philosophy."
Eversheds Sutherland's merger is a response to growing demand from its clients for legal advice in the areas of construction, land-use planning, and development approval procedures. Since its establishment in 2013, Kropáček LEGAL has built a strong position, particularly in real estate law and litigation. The team led by Pavel Kropáček brings experience in residential development and in-depth knowledge of permitting and planning processes. After the merger , the firm now consists of a strong 36 lawyer team with significant expertise in the areas of M&A, real estate law, labor law, litigation, digital technologies, and cyber security.
"When I joined Eversheds Sutherland three years ago, I had the ambition to further expand the firm with top experts who share our vision, work style, and emphasis on quality. The merger with Pavel and his team is exactly this kind of growth. It makes sense for us not only from a business perspective, but also on a personal level. It will enable us to provide even more comprehensive and effective legal support across all key areas," says Bořivoj Líbal, managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland in the Czech Republic.
"I am actually returning to Eversheds – I worked here in 2010 as a cooperating lawyer, still under the Dvořák & spol. brand. It's great to see how far the firm has come in that time. I see joining Eversheds as the right move for our team and a great benefit for our clients, who will now be able to draw on the broader specialization and resources of a strong international firm. I am delighted that we are becoming part of this brand," comments Pavel Kropáček, founder of Kropáček LEGAL.
Eversheds Sutherland is thus continuing to implement its long-term growth strategy in areas with the highest demand for specialized legal advice. Stanislav Dvořák currently holds a 40% stake in the Prague office, followed by Bořivoj Líbal with 25%, same as the new partner Pavel Kropáček. The remaining 10% stake is held by Bernhard Hager.
"The expansion of the team in Prague also has an impact on Slovakia, where we serve a number of joint clients. We are gaining a stronger regional base for complex transactions in cross-border projects," concludes Bernhard Hager, managing partner in Slovakia and partner and co-founder of the Prague office. The firm has been operating in the Czech Republic for more than 21 years and for more than 6 years as part of one of the largest global law firms.
