AmCham and Confederation of Industry issue letter on transatlantic trade

The Confederation of Industry and the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic issued a joint letter urging European and American policymakers to lower the costs and increase the investment into the most important commercial relationship of the past two centuries.

"We recognize that misunderstandings and, to some degree, gaming the system have created grievances in both the United States and Brussels," Weston Stacey, the executive director of the American Chamber, said. "We all must, however, recognize the crucial importance the transatlantic economy has in creating the prosperity and security that we enjoy, and not risk the vital flows of trade, investment and research that make it possible."

In the letter, the two organizations argue that the tariffs should be reduced to zero, and that non-tariff barriers be removed. The letter also provides numerical proof of the importance of the relationship.
