Brno's success as a hub for information technology has created a new set of policy changes for business, university, and political leaders: how to manage the flow of talent through the region's schools to meet the demand for more quantity and more specially qualified graduates.
During a discussion on April 18, 2019 at the Department of Telecommunications, FEEC BUT, Brno's new mayor, Markéta Vaňková, brought her braintrust to discuss how to handle the city's most important resource with VUT Brno's leadership and AmCham executives. After delving into issues such as the number and knowledge of applicants to attrition due to company's luring ICT majors into full-time employ before they finish their degrees, the group agreed to work together to increase the flow of students into the university and to promote the completion of their studies once there. The tentative target is to increase the number of ICT students in Brno universities by 20% by 2025.
