AmCham Big Bets discussion with K.Havlíček: Brno and Czechia have a real chance to become a center of innovation

Thank you to Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic doc. Ing. Karel Havlíček, Ph.D., MBA for discussing the innovation potential of Brno and Czechia as a whole.

Brno is probably the place where you can see that potential best. The city has a dense network of universities. Those universities have created a leading research institution (CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology). The local innovation center JIC was awarded a European award for being the best at what it does. At the north end of the city lies the Technology Park Brno, which is unique nationally in combining research corporations and the Brno University of Technology. All along the north and south rim of the city lie major companies developing and exporting advanced technologies around the world. Some of them, such as Y Soft Corporation and Gen Digital, have roots that begin in Brno.

What then needs to be done to turn this talent into a self-sustaining mill of new science that generates new technology that combines into new products that creates new high premiums in the global market? This is a question we discussed with Mr. Havlíček last week in Brno.
